How to read our plagiarism report

In order to check plagiarism for your texts we supply you with 4 types of reports. Each report type provides you with a different detail level. For each purpose you will find the suitable format - from checking a first suspicion to detailed investigation of a plagiarism delict.

PlagLevel
This number indicates what percentage of text is identical to text from topic related documents. It provides you with a first idea, whether it is necessary to check the plagiarism report in detail. This number does not yet contain the distinction between plagiarism and quotation. You are finding a distinction in the more detailed report types.
0%   0-1% Due to the low amount of matches, your document is unlikely to be plagiarism (from the internet or local data bases)
1%   1-5% A closer look at the matches is recommend.
5%   5-100% The document is most likely plagiarized - check to be sure!

List of matches
In this report you find a list of matches with potential sources. That way you can detect quickly, to what extent the checked document matches a particular source. The figure shows 4 potential sources, while 7 were found in total. For the 3rd source all matches are displayed.
In order to review the source, follow the link next to the match. If you want to see the matches marked directly within the source, click the button 'Highlight matches in source' (Remark: Depending on the size of the source and the number of matches it may take several minutes to generate the highlighting).

Interactive browser report
You can de-/select sources, search matches comfortably, mark passages as quotations or remove them completely from the report.
Browse machtes by using the arrow keys of your keyboard. If you want to check sources in particular, click their number.
  • Matches within text (Browser)
You can view the text directly within the browser. Evaluate the single matches, whether they are serious plagiarism or uninteresting findings and select or deselect them accordingly. Further complete sources can be deselected, which is for example useful if the checked document is already published elsewhere.
  • Comparison
Checked document and potential sources are compared next to each other. Thereby you can see directly how similar the findings and the analyzed text are.
Matches within text (.docx)
A word version of the original document is generated. Using the commentary function of the .docx-format plagiarism findings are highlighted with links to the potential sources. That way plagiarism can be evaluated during regular proofreading of a word document, either printed or on the screen.
